Cypress Beams

We are leading the way with our conversion and utilisation of Cypress converted into beams.

The humble and often misplanted Leyland Cypress is a fantastic tree. It grows quickly and absolutely straight. Then the timber is preserved by the resin that flows through the timber. It's light, strong and easy to work. These attributes make it very useful for many applications. We are using this material predominantly for our timber framing workshops so we will find out the only thing yet to discover, that is, how durable will it be in service.

It is worth remembering that the Japanese have been using Cypress for their timber framed buildings for centuries and there they have to design for regular earthquakes.
